One among the first four departments to be established in 2005 in the institute, the Mechanical Engineering Department of GFITM has had the reputation of being among the finest and is dedicated towards the advancement of technology and science. Keeping itself update with the latest developments and trends in the field and with a dedicated faculty of highly qualified and experienced persons in all streams of mechanical engineering. The department consistently strives to provide better facilities for education and research. An interactive relationship is maintained between the students and staff which enable the students to develop a sound foundation in the stream in a conducive environment. This is also reflected in our campus placement as maximum students get placed in the top Industrial Houses of the country. The calibration facilities developed by the department are in accordance with the National Standards for calibration of pressure, temperature and speed measurement. These facilities are utilized by ISO 9000 certified companies. The department has an excellent industrial interaction and contributes to the industry by offering training services. Some of them are : Escorts Group, JCB Group, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL) and its ancillaries. It is said, “Seeing is Believing” hence I invite the potential scholars and their parents to visit the GFITM Campus to get a feel of the excellent facilities available that assist students becoming successful professionals

Mechanical Engineering is a discipline of engineering that involves the production and usage of energy for the design, production, and operation of machines and tools. It is one of the oldest and broadcast engineering disciplines. The engineering field requires a solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science and structural analysis. Mechanical engineers use these core principles along with tools like computer-aided engineering and product lifecycle management to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipments, heating and cooling systems, motor vehicles, aircraft, watercraft, robotics, medical devices and more.
Central Workshop occupies with Machine Shop, Welding Shop, Fitting Shop, Carpentry Shop, Sheet Metal Shop, Forging Shop and Foundry shop as an individual unit with state-of-the-art facilities. Central Workshop helps the students in learning different manufacturing processes available in present in present industrial scenario. It also helps the students in making projects as per the modern industrial requirements of various departments.
