Electronics & Communication Engineering
A part from a good foundation in electronics, the Electronics and Communication Engineering students are provided in-depth knowledge to designs, fabricate, maintain, supervise and manufacture electronic equipments relevant to entertainment media, health care, IT industry, communication and defense. They work with microprocessors, micro controller and fiber optics for applications in automation, communication and multimedia. The focus in the study program is on understanding electronic networks and devices, electromagnetic field theory, computer fundamentals, communication and control systems.
The analog and digital electronics circuits have growth enormously in complexity and functionality in this IT age. To cope with this trend, knowledge and experience on the use of computer-aided design automation tools have become mandatory. Hence the Department has established its own computer lab with latest configuration and most required software like MAT LAB, P-Spice, and Xilinx etc. Digital System Design Laboratory equipped with FPGA, CPLD, CAD tools and boards from Xilinx. In the embedded system design lab students learn assembly level and high level programming, PIC microcontrollers boards and tools. Control System Lab, Instrumentation & Measurements lab, Communication lab, Analog lab, Digital lab, Network lab, Electrical Technology lab, Electrical Machines lab etc. are present which provide students with real time knowledge.
The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering at GFITM is one of the most advanced in the region in terms of technology incorporation towards academic advancement. All the laboratories of the department are well equipped with modern equipments.
The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering has its core strength in the field of Microwave & Radar Engineering, Satellite communication, Digital Signal Processing and Embedded System. The courses not only meet industry requirements but have the rigor to meet the research challenges in the fast changing communication technology. Apart from class room teaching, there are frequent lectures delivered by renowned speakers drawn from Industry and R&D establishments.
At the end of four years, all of them evolve into confident and brilliant engineers, ready to face the technical challenges inherent of the field of electronics and communication. The passing out undergraduates either get launched in top notch industries or dart out with confidence to institutions of repute to win laurels.
